(Washington, DC)— U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the lead Democrat on the Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations subcommittee which funds the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), announced with Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) today that NOAA and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) will award $136,242 to the New Hampshire Nature Conservancy for the Tidal Crossing Replacements for a Resilient Coastal New Hampshire project, which will be matched dollar for dollar.

(Washington, DC) –Last week, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) sent a letter with U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congresswomen Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) and Annie Kuster (NH-02), to the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney and Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works R.D. James, requesting that emergency dredging for Hampton-Seabrook Harbor be included in the OMB and Army Corps of Engineers’ (Corps) fiscal year (FY) 2019 Work Plan.

Today, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01), Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, and Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig applauded a grant of $934,000 from the US Department of Transportation to help finance the replacement of aging buses in Manchester. Since 2012, Manchester has been replacing buses that were purchased between 2004 and 2008 and are nearing the end of their lifespan. With the help of federal funds, the entire fleet is expected to be replaced by 2020.

Work will start this summer to realign and reconstruct two taxiways at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.

Most of the cost will be paid with a $6.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

“There will be no impact to normal operations this year,” Interim Airport Director Tom Malafronte said Monday.

“Next year, it will be necessary to close (the airport’s north-south) Runway 17-35 for a short time to allow the contractor to tie in the new taxiways,” he said.
