Shea-Porter Statement on Restructuring of VA New England Healthcare System

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) today released the following statement after Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin announced a restructuring of the VA New England Healthcare System and two other VA healthcare networks:

“I am encouraged that the VA has determined that a new organizational model is needed to improve performance and accountability for VA medical facilities, and that effective immediately, facilities in the VA New England Healthcare system will report directly to a new Executive in Charge at the VA’s Central Office. We cannot allow the neglect and lack of oversight that happened in the past to continue. I consistently hear from veterans in New Hampshire that they mostly receive great care at our Manchester facility, and I will continue working to ensure that Granite State veterans have in-state access to the highest quality health care, which they have earned through their service to our country.”
