Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) today announced that the University of New Hampshire has been awarded a $300,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to launch a pilot project in collaboration with the state’s community colleges and advanced manufacturing partners. The partnership will work to address the workforce needs of New Hampshire’s advanced manufacturing sector.

Legislation would make permanent a key tax break for higher education that expired last year
Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) today introduced H.R.3683, the Student and Families Tax Reduction Act, a bill to make the above-the-line tax deduction for higher education tuition and fees permanent. The deduction of up to $4,000, which is claimed by almost 8,000 Granite Staters per year, expired last December.

Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01), U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, and Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) sent a letter to the United States Air Force this week, requesting a community update on efforts to treat water supplies contaminated with perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) at Pease International Tradeport, the former Pease Air Force Base. The letter also asks for specific responses to concerns raised by Members of the New Hampshire State Legislature. Thousands of New Hampshire families were exposed to the contaminated water supply at Haven well.
