Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) and over 150 Members of Congress sent a letter today to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos highlighting concerns surrounding the U.S. Department of Education’s decision to make changes to the student loan servicing contract procurement process and remove key requirements that were intended to support and protect student loan borrowers and help them repay their loans. The Members of Congress also cited concerns with Secretary DeVos’ decision to give all $880 million in annual federal student loan servicing contract funding to a single company, a move that could create unresponsive and “too big to fail” student loan system that would produce poorer results for both borrowers and taxpayers.

Today, New Hampshire’s Congressional Delegation wrote to Governor Chris Sununu to express their support for New Hampshire joining the United States Climate Alliance. The Alliance, which has grown to include 12 states, governed by both Republicans and Democrats, is committed to upholding the goals of the Paris Climate Accord. In the letter, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01), Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH), and Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) highlighted the importance of striving to meet the ideals of the Paris Climate Accord for the benefit of both the environment and economy in New Hampshire. Yesterday, Governor Sununu said that New Hampshire would not join the U.S. Climate Alliance.
